Flirting with Hitler !

As I was walking through the narrow drury lane, my usually dreamy eyes wandered off on to a little interesting shop which was selling away loads of used books. Out of my intemperate afffection for books, I curiously popped in to see if I could find something that I may like to flirt with.

As I wandered in the little confines of the charity shop, my eyes fell on to a plastered creamish white book on the top shelf. As I walked closer to it, I saw the words, Adolf Hitler. As some one who is a bit of a sucker for biographies and autobiographies, I wondered if Hitler is someone who I can flirt with? I could not resist the temptation to see a differnet perspective on his life.

I find myself fllirting with John Toland's fascinating account of Adolf Hitler. Although much has been written about Hitler, he is a man who remains a creature of conceptiion, an enigmatic evil who makes me wonder about the consequences of an innate intemparate obsession for power.

What would happen if we have more of them in the Nuclear era? Scary though to think about. Think !

The Edinburgh Book festival that is coming up in August is a testimony to the fact that the written word has a major influence on all of us. I think it will be a great fare to attend. Apparently, “It’s the largest and liveliest celebration of the written word in the world”. And, this year, it features authors like Joseph Stiglitz. Is there a better way to immerse oneself into the world of the written word? I will certainly be there. An event which was started in 1983 is now a regular event for Edinburgh’s picturesque and gorgeous summers
