Shashi Tharoor, stepped down from the race to become the new Secretary General of the United Nations. On the one hand I am sad. On the other, I am proud that an Indian, a journalist and an accomplished author has reached such heights. I have always read his coloumns and I have read many of his books and I just loved them.

His book, INDIA -FROM MIDNIGHT TO THE MILLENNIUM is a fascinating account of India, which discusses the plurality that India represents and the contradictions it manifests. I was very impressed with his indepth knowledge about India and his passionate presentation.

I admire him and his work. A great guy. Indeed.
